[It's been a few days since both Axl and Zero had vanished, with only a vague understanding that one of them might reappear. It wasn't the first time someone had disappeared from the house, but since Zero was the glue that was holding them all there, his absence, even for how unobtrusive he normally was, was definitely being felt by the inhabitants, and the general emotional effects in the house were not particularly pleasant.
Such as it was, Ciel mostly kept to herself for those early days, keeping her reading attempts to her own room and passively keeping her distance from the increasingly smelly Pascal, a hint left in the form of a basket of clean clothes at the door to the basement lab from time to time, though Ciel still tended to struggle with the washing machine, not having yet improved it to her satisfaction.
Although the house had been relatively quiet, it was hard not to miss the sounds of hard work happening in the lab, and eventually Ciel makes up her mind to go back down there--she hadn't really been pressed into assisting, and her curiosity coupled with a need for a distraction led her down there, with a tentative tray offering of her attempt at putting together a very crisp grilled cheese sandwich with a banana on the side.
Knocking was a courtesy-- they shared the space after all-- but she opened the door afterward, herself, starting to make her way down into the -- not quite an abyss, though Ciel was almost afraid as to what the state of the place would be now after her days of avoiding it for her own health reasons.]
[Zero vanishing had certainly bummed her out. She didn't know Axl as well although she felt sympathy for the ones who knew him that were left behind. But Zero disappearing into thin air was felt way more by her--and by everyone, it seemed--and Pascal did the only thing she knew she could do and went to work. Throwing herself into projects, however pointless, was how she was going to cope with this.
In doing so she came up with a brilliant idea that might bring some amusement to the others were still around. She remembered how much it had cheered Sophie up once she had gotten Mecha Asbel working so why not! The various banging and clanking of metal, the whirring of machines and hammering of bolts into steel were common in the days after Zero left. She was at least conscious of the hour and never made noise at night but during the day hours was a different story.
But at long last she's seeing her project come to an end.
Ciel will find something of an "organized mess" in the workshop. It's clear Pascal attempted to shove things away as she went but it didn't really work. It's at least navigable. When she finds Pascal the thing she's working on is covered underneath a sheet. She glances up and blinks, dirt smudged on her face and some oil stains on her shirt.]
Oh, heya, Ciel! Sorry I didn't near you come in. [She hops to her feet and wipes her brow with the back of her gloves.] Is that for me? You're the best! [It's definitely been awhile since she's eaten...]
[Ciel carefully makes her way over to the desk, trying to find some area to safely set the tray down in, though her eyes can't help but track the work area for changes.]
It sounded like you were very busy down here. [But she doesn't see anything immediately odd or out of place beyond the usual clutter... and something under a sheet? Ah, but Pascal had asked a question, hadn't she... ]
I know it's likely he'll be back... but it just feels wrong without knowing when he is... or where, for that matter.
[She hadn't been able to learn too much about Zero's past, but from what she knew of her own world and even snatches of conversation between the reploids here it wasn't exactly a pretty time either.] Ah, but don't worry about all that... I'm fine. Pascal, you look exhausted. You really should get some fresh air and a nap after you eat...
[And then maybe bathe... but. One thing at a time.]
[late on the 18th]

Pascal...? I thought you might want to eat...
[She feels so very uncertain about this.]

How've you been holding up?
